Nørre Vosborg & Skærum Mølle
Near Nørre Vosborg stands a magnificent manor house with roots dating back to the 16th century, surrounded by a landscape that has been shaped over millennia. The main buildings, gate towers, and old structures paint a vivid picture of the estate's significance in West Jutland.
Skærum Mølle (mill) is located a few kilometers away at the confluence of Lilleå and Storå and has served as a watermill, brickworks and farm over the ages.
The area offers experiences for all the senses: historical buildings open up to stories. Exhibitions and environments worthy of preservation provide insight into both nature and technology.

We have prioritized the trails with our favorite trail in the area as the first.

Along the Storå and the lands of Nørre Vosborg
You start the hike through the hilly terrain northeast of Nørre Vosborg, where the ridges offer views over Munkeengene. Here you can experience traces of ice ages and old coastlines in the landscape.
Skærum Mølle - The Historic Forest
The trail takes you through the Historical Forest at Skærum Mølle, an area established by the Danish Nature Agency in 2009 to illustrate how the forest vegetation has developed since the last ice age.
Sir Lyngbjerg - The historical route
The trail takes you through the scenic area around Sir Lyngbjerg, where you walk in a varied terrain surrounded by forest, heath and small clearings with beautiful views.
Skærum Mill - Teglværkssøen
The trail takes you through a varied landscape around Skærum Mølle (Mill), where you walk along grassy paths through wooded areas and open meadows with views of the mill stream.
In the beech forest and oak thicket
You move into the beech forest and oak thicket near Nørre Vosborg, where you can experience a green and varied landscape characterized by robust oak trees and fine beech trees.
Bur Kommuneplantage
The route in Bur Kommuneplantage (Bur Municipal Plantation) is a peaceful and manageable circular tour, where you walk along a small grass-covered forest path through the quiet plantation with dense vegetation and birdsong.
Hjertestien in Råsted Plantation
You walk through the varied nature of Råsted Plantage, where forest areas and open glades alternate along the way. Here is a good opportunity to experience peace and wildlife, and with a little luck you can see both roe deer and fallow deer.
Ideal order of the trails
We recommend that you walk the hiking trails in the following order (or the reverse) to minimize transportation distance between them:
- Nørre Vosborg – short route
- Nørre Vosborg – long route
- Skærum Mølle – The Historic Forest
- Skærum mølle - Teglværkssøen
- Hjertestien in Råsted Plantation
- Bur Kommuneplantage
- Sir Lyngbjerg – The Historic Route
You can choose to skip certain trails so the total distance matches what you want to walk.
For example, if you want to walk 10.6 km, start with Nørre Vosborg - long route, skip the Nørre Vosborg – short route, walk the two routes at Skærum Mølle, and finish with Sir Lyngbjerg – The Historic Route.

Nørre Vosborg
Nørre Vosborg is a historic manor house with roots dating back to the 1200s, located in West Jutland. The complex consists of buildings from several periods, including a gate tower and farm buildings, and boasts great historical and architectural charm.
Visit Nørre Vosborg – experience the beautiful manor rooms and learn more about the history. Some days are staffed (with guided tours), other days you can explore on your own. -
Skærum Mill
Skærum Mølle (mill) is beautifully situated in West Jutland, where the Lilleå river meets the Storå river. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages, and today the site houses a folk university center and a charming bed and breakfast in a historic setting.
Several of the buildings are museums: The Welcome House in the old smithy showcases the history of the site and the Geopark, the Per Kirkeby House with its dome serves as an exhibition space, and "The Old Grocery Store" in the former chicken coop offers a glimpse of shop fixtures and goods from 1910-15.

Restaurant Classique at Nørre Vosborg offers an elegant manor house atmosphere in the heart of West Jutland, gathered in beautifully restored surroundings with French charm and a focus on detail.
The food combines classic French dishes with the region's best ingredients – enjoy 3- and 4-course menus, oysters, caviar and seasonal menus in brasserie style, tasteful and with a sense of quality. -
Holstebro Golf Cafe
Holstebro Golfcafé is beautifully situated at hole 18 of Holstebro Golf Club in Råsted and invites both golfers and passers-by to relax in peaceful surroundings with views of green fairways and nature.
The menu offers homemade brunch, lunch dishes and classic café favorites such as burgers and sandwiches. In addition, cake and homemade bread, a daily special and a "surprise of the week" are offered at reasonable prices. -
Restaurant Storådalen
Restaurant Storådalen is beautifully situated in the Holstebro Golf Club, surrounded by nature and green areas. It offers a calm, elegant atmosphere with views of the golf course and large windows that invite nature inside.
The food offers light and classic lunch dishes of high quality - from hand-peeled shrimp and smoked salmon to pan-fried plaice and juicy burgers. All served with fresh bread and homemade accompaniments.
