Bulbjerg, Østerild & Vejlerne - Thy

The hiking area in the northern part of Thy offers unique hiking adventures that are completely unique and cannot be found anywhere else.

Here you can hike along the coastal slope at Bulbjerg, an impressive limestone cliff of 47 meters and Denmark's only bird cliff outside of Bornholm.

You also have the opportunity to get up close to some of the world's largest wind turbines at the National Test Center for Windmills in Østerild.

You can also experience fantastic bird life from the bird towers in Vejlerne, which is Northern Europe's largest bird reserve. Here you can get close to the bearded reedling and listen to the bittern's characteristic "pump-er-lunk" call while you walk on the boardwalks through the reed forest.

The area also offers an exciting opportunity to visit the alternative society in Thylejren and perhaps take a look at the bauta stones in the old Viking burial ground at Tømmerby.

In the hiking area, you can explore five trails that stretch for a total of up to 14.5 km, as well as a bonus trail of 5.7 km for those with really good fitness. These trails allow you to experience the diversity and beauty of the area.
