Lemvig is a historic market town on the Limfjord in Mid-Jutland with approximately 6,700 inhabitants (2025). The town is situated in a tunnel valley between the fjord and a lake, surrounded by hills shaped during the last Ice Age.
The town centre features charming pedestrian streets with old market-town buildings, specialty shops and small squares. At the bustling harbour, cafés, restaurants and markets bring year-round activity and events.
There is plenty to discover in the town itself: a lively museum packed with local history, a serene church ideal for quiet reflection, a sculpture trail, a planetary path, and a vibrant harbourfront where town life unfolds.

The comic strip Livets gang i Lidenlund by Henning Gantriis is inspired by everyday life in Lemvig. With warmth and humor, buildings, environments and characters from the town are recognized in the strips, and the series reflects the soul of Lemvig through both color and satire.

The Sculpture Trail
The trail is a circular tour of 54 granite sculptures by artist Torvald Westergaard. You start at the Lemvig Museum garden and walk up the 182-step Station Stairs. On the way up, you will encounter sculptures that stand in green areas with a beautiful view of the city and the fjord.
Nature trail by the golf course - red
The trail is a small loop along the southern part of the golf courses, where you follow the edge of the open terrain.
Lemvig Sødal - the lake and the wetland
You follow a paved route of 1.8 km around Lemvig Sø, where there are benches along the way so you can take a break and enjoy the view over the water.
"Livets gang i Lindenlund" route
You follow a route through Lemvig, where you can experience the environments that inspired Henning Gantriis for the comic strip Livets gang i Lindenlund (Life in Lidenlund) .
Nature trail by the golf course - yellow
The trail takes you around the golf course in a magnificent, hilly ice age landscape, where you get a sense of the forces that have shaped nature over millennia.
Kabbelsti
You walk alternately through the hilly landscape north of Lemvig, where hills and gorges create the characteristic Kabbel terrain with views over the Limfjord and the town of Lemvig.
Digterruten - Thøger Larsen
You start Digterruten (The Poet's Route) at Vesterbjerg above Lemvig Museum and follow the path into a varied landscape with beautiful views of Lem Vig. Along the way you experience both the city and nature up close.
Hjertestien
You start in the heart of Lemvig and follow the path through the city streets before moving into green forests and further across open meadows with views of the fjord.
Planet Trail
You follow a unique route where the solar system is reproduced on a scale of 1:1 billion. Along the coast, granite and bronze sculptures of the planets are placed in natural order.

Klimatorium
Klimatorium in Lemvig is Denmark's international climate center, built in 2020. The architecturally iconic building offers publicly accessible exhibition areas and a café, focusing on climate, water and energy challenges.
The center combines research, dissemination and innovation and functions as a worldwide Living Lab, where visitors can learn about green energy, climate adaptation and circular economy through interactive exhibitions and guided tours. -
Lemvig Museum
Lemvig Museum is a cultural history museum founded in 1931 and located in the historic "Vesterhus". The museum works based on five core tasks: research, collection, preservation, registration and dissemination of local cultural heritage.
The museum's exhibitions cover a wide range of life in the Lemvige region – including agriculture, coastal life and strandings – and showcase works by local artists such as Niels and Kristen Bjerre, Torvald Westergaard and Jens Søndergaard. -
Museum of Golden Age Art
The Museum of Golden Age Art has opened in the listed customs house at Lemvig Harbour. It displays over 750 works from the Danish Golden Age, donated by Frank Nicolajsen. The building is being carefully converted into a museum with respect for its historic architecture.
The collection includes both well-known names such as Eckersberg and Skovgaard as well as lesser-known artists from the period 1800–1850. The exhibition provides a rich insight into the motifs and painting styles of the Golden Age. -
Museum of Religious Art
The Museum of Religious Art in Lemvig is a modern art museum with a focus on existential and religious art from both Denmark and abroad. It originated from the artist Bodil Kaalund's extensive decoration of Lemvig Church in 1976-81.
The museum has a permanent collection and changing special exhibitions, ranging from local and Greenlandic artists to international names.
