Thyboron

Trails, adventures and dining spots

Thyborøn is a coastal town in Lemvig Municipality with approximately 1,740 inhabitants. Located at the mouth of the Limfjord towards the North Sea, where the Thyborøn Canal cuts through Harboøre Tange, the town forms a unique meeting point between fjord and sea.

The town's harbor is one of Denmark's three largest fishing harbors and a center for certified fishing with traceability from catch to auction. Fishing is still central to Thyborøn's identity and economy.

The city has several attractions: JyllandsAkvariet – hands-on with sharks and amber; Sea War Museum Jutland with the memorial park of the Battle of Jutland; the distinctive Snail House decorated with thousands of shells; and Thyborøn Fortress with preserved bunkers and the iconic Alexander Nevsky anchor from 1868.

By the harbor and in the city center you will find cozy cafes and restaurants that offer fresh fish dishes and local ingredients in maritime surroundings. Many places have a view of the water and an atmospheric coastal atmosphere - perfect for a break in the middle of the experience.
