Outside the national park, Thy is a place where the landscape opens up in new directions and where nature and everyday life blend together. Here, you’ll find the same sense of calm and wide open spaces – but with the fjord, villages, and open fields as a natural part of the experience. It is a Thy in motion, where you move through ever-changing landscapes and feel how both nature and culture leave their mark.

In eastern Thy, along the Limfjord, you encounter a gentler and more varied landscape, where the fjord winds through the area and creates a calm contrast to the rugged west coast. Here, protected natural areas alternate with fertile farmland, and the light over the water adds a special atmosphere.

In northern Thy, the landscape becomes raw and dramatic once again – with the striking cliff of Bulbjerg, the rich birdlife of Vejlerne, and the impressive wind turbines at Østerild. Here, the sky feels vast, and there is space to lose yourself completely in the landscape.

Most of the marked routes in the area are included, although exceptions may occur. Many of these routes pass through urban areas, unlike the hiking trails found in the natural landscapes.
